CBI chief wants Lalu Prasad Yadav off the hook in Fodder scam
New Delhi- In a move that has raised many eyebrows, the CBI director Ranjit Sinha has advocated the dropping of charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav in the three pending cases which are related to the fodder scam, where the RJD leader is facing conviction in one of the cases.
Recommending that the charges against Mr Yadav be dropped, Mr Sinha has differed not only with director of prosecution in the agency O.P. Verma but also other senior officers of the Patna branch.
The CBI has referred the matter to the solicitor-general.
“Most of the evidence in the case and most of the accused persons are common in the said cases. I am of the view that a person may not be tried for the same offences in another case for which he has already been convicted when the evidence is the same,” Mr Sinha said.
