Kiran's party aims to reunite divided Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy launched Jai Samaikyandhra Party on the banks of Godavari river on Wednesday with a sole aim to reunite the divided state.
Four expelled Congress MPs — Vundavalli Arun Kumar, G.V. Harsha Kumar, Sabbam Hari, Lagadapati Rajagopal and several others were present on the occasion.
Addressing a large gathering, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said he preferred to launch it here as whichever party the Godavari districts support would assume power in the state.
He said that a strong party is needed to teach the Centre a lesson for dividing the state against the interests of Seemandhra people.
He called upon the people to elect at least 25 MPs from his party in Seemandhra region to reunite the state and added that the party is going to field young generation candidates. He also said that unlike other parties which will issue 2 B-forms to the aspirants to file their nomination papers, his party would let interested people come up themselves with 2 B-forms and file their nominations.
He hoisted the party flag comprising one vertical column in grey shade representing the “earth” of Seemandhra and two equal horizontal columns of light green on top followed by thick green indicating prosperity.
Nearly 35,000 people arrived from several parts and jeered whenever he targeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Naidu and Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
