Bollywood’s newest heartthrob Varun Dhawan’s upcoming movie Main Tera Hero is being talked about thanks to its music and slick trailers. “I play Srinath Prasad, a guy who sees the world in a totally different way. But his parents are not happy with him. He then goes abroad for higher studies and encounters a series of never-ending problems,” says Varun, adding that it was a very crazy character and was not easy to play.
Much has also been talked about how Ileana took care of everybody on the sets and was hence termed as “mummy”. Varun, however, sets the account right. “She only took care of me on the sets. I am very fond of Ileana. In the beginning we used to tease each other; she would call me baccha and I would call her ‘mummy’. I would get passionate and run into a scene without caring much about it, but she would be very cautious.
“Even before the movie, I was a fan of Ileana’s belly dancing which I had seen somewhere on TV,” says Varun, adding that it was equally fun working with Nargis Fakhri. “Nargis was always on fire on the set. People are going to see a totally different side of her in this movie and she worked really hard for this.”
Varun, who is open about working in the South industry, has his personal favourites down here.
“I would always keep asking Ileana about the South industry and the difference between Tamil and Telugu. Also, I am a very big fan of NTR Jr and have watched many of his movies. I have also met Ram Charan a couple of times and he is a sweet guy.”
He also says that Hansika had sent him a text after she saw the first look of Main Tera Hero.
“Hansika and I grew up in the same apartment in Mumbai. And on the first day, when the posters of my movie came out, she texted me that she really liked them.” And, after Siddharth and Alia’s — his co-stars in Student of the Year — movies grabbed good reviews at the box-office, Varun says there’s no pressure. “I just feel the pressure because this is my second film as the hero. That’s all. But I’m happy for the two. Both their films were really appreciated by fans and that’s good.”
