N. Kiran Kumar Reddy launches Jai Samaikyandhra

Reddy said the struggle for reunification of Andhra Pradesh would start from Telangana region

Hyderabad: While announcing the name of his new party, Jai Samaikyandhra, former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said on Monday that the struggle for reunification of Andhra Pradesh would start from Telangana region as it stood to lose heavily with the state’s division.

To prove his point symbolically, Mr Reddy displayed pieces of the Berlin Wall at the press conference. Sources close to the former chief minister said a friend of his, who lived in Germany, had collected the remains of the wall during its historical demolition at the time of unification of Germany and the same were displayed in the press conference. Mr Reddy is the president of the new party while former MP, Ch Srihari Rao, is the founder president. Controversial MP Lagadapati Rajagopal is not part of the party executive though Mr Reddy said that he would act as an advisor and strategist for the party.

Reiterating his contention that TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao had misled the people of Telangana, the former CM wondered why the latter was now talking about the need to generate 1,5000 MW of power for the Telangana state contrary to his earlier statement that Telangana farmers would directly draw power from the transmission lines.
Telangana farmers will lose heavily because they will lose their rights over surplus water as the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh will become the rightful owner of surplus waters being a lower riparian state, he added.

Suspended Congress MPs, V. Arunkumar, Sabbam Hari, G.V. Harshakumar and A. Sai Pratap will be vice-presidents of the new party along with former ministers S. Sailajanath and P. Satyanarayana. G. Gangadhar and Tulasi Reddy will be general secretaries while B. Ramamurthy will act as treasurer.

Neeraja to join Kiran’s party

The Congress has been facing the worst situation in Kurnool district where legislators and party incharges are leaving the party one after the other, blaming the high command for bifurcating the state. Alur MLA Neeraja Reddy shifted loyalties to Jai Samaikyandhra party, floated by the former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday. Ms Neeraja Reddy joined Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy’s party during a press conference held at Hyderabad.

Two former ministers and sitting MLAs from the district, T.G. Venkatesh and Erasu Pratapa Reddy and Shilpa Mohan Reddy quit the party and joined the Telugu Desam party. Nandyal MP SPY Reddy shifted YSR Congress party two months ago.

Presently, union minister of state for railways Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy was only person to lead Congress party. Telugudesam party got strengthened in number game
and all the sitting Congress MLAs will contest in similar segments on TDP tickets. Mr.Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy was hoping that leaders might leave party for political benefit but party cadres remain with the party at all the villages.
