5,000 government employees to feel bifurcation pain in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Much to the relief of the Central and state administrations, the number of government employees who will need to be 'disturbed' following the state division will be very small according to initial figures.
This is contrary to the claims and counter claims of those who fought for and against bifurcation, on the basis of employment in the state sector.
The preliminary analysis of the data collected from the state staff shows that the total number of government employees who have to be adjusted between the two state cadres will be around 5,000. Officials are working to arrive at the final figures.
Thanks to the six-point formula implemented in the state, the division process will cover only 76,000 out of the 11 lakh government employees. These 76,000 employees are working in state cadre posts.
The rest about 10.24 lakh are holding district and zonal posts which will remain in the respective regions with or without division. Of these 76,000, there are at least 26,000 vacancies, which reduces the number of employees to 50,000. Employees working in corporations like APIIC will not be covered under the division process at this stage of the Reorganisation Act.
