Congress keeps Ajit Jogi in limbo over LS list

Congress has decided to keep candidacy of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in limbo

New Delhi: Despite clearing a list of nine candidates for Lok Sabha contest in Chhattisgarh, the Congress has decided to keep candidacy of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in limbo.

The name of the senior party leader is missing from the first list of candidates released by the party on Saturday which decided to finalise candidates on all but two Lok Sabha constituencies, Kanker and Mahasamund.

Several senior leaders of the Chhattisgarh state Congress committee are understood to be intensely lobbying against Mr Jogi’s candidacy. Sources stated that the name of the former Chief Minister has been withheld and a decision on the same is likely soon.

Sources close to the senior Congress leader stated that he is keen on contesting from Kanker constituency, which is part of Bastar division and also a Scheduled Tribe reserved constituency.

Chattisgarh - Seats: 11 (3-phase polls: April 10, 17 and 24)
