Congress unhappy with TRS about the division of seats in Telangana
Hyderabad: The Congress has proposed that other than the Assembly seats that already has sitting party MLAs, the rest should be equally shared. As per this, since the TRS has 17 and the Congress 48 seats, the remaining 54 seats should be divided equally between the two parties.
Regarding Lok Sabha seats, out of 17, the Congress has 13 and the TRS two. Sources said that the Congress has proposed four seats to the TRS and keep 12, thus losing one seat. Ruling out a merger between the two parties, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has constituted a committee headed by MP K. Kesava Rao to deal with the alliance issues.
Welcoming TRS’ decision, AICC general secretary and state Congress affairs in-charge Mr Digvijay Singh said that the Congress would also constitute a committee to discuss the alliance issue with the TRS.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders expressed different opinions on seat sharing with the TRS. One leader said that they didn’t agree to the TRS’ proposal and that the Congress could win even if they fought the polls alone. He said if the Congress agreed to TRS’ proposal, it would mean handing over power to the TRS. Even if the Congress won all 50 seats, it would still be unable to form the government.
But another leader said that if the high command agreed to TRS’ proposal, there would be no option except to abide by it. He said that the Congress high command wanted more Lok Sabha seats than Assembly seats and added that the TRS and the party high command were cashing in on the disunity among the Telangana Congress leaders.
