BJP seeks stern action against AAP leaders

BJP takes matter to Election Commission, request derecognition of AAP

New Delhi: BJP on Thursday launched an all out attack on Aam Aadmi Party, accusing it of vitiating the atmosphere ahead of Lok Sabha elections and indulging in propaganda at the "behest" of the Congress after its cadres held violent protests outside their offices yesterday.

The opposition party also took the matter to the Election Commission seeking stern action against the party and its leaders, including derecognition of AAP.

Leading the attack, BJP leader Arun Jaitley drew parallels of Arvind Kejriwal with Adolf Hitler's propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, saying, "If Joseph Goebbels was re-born he surely would have joined the Aam Aadmi Party."

He said while Kejriwal was neither arrested nor detained by the Gujarat police, the AAPleader made his "non-detention into a national crisis".

BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi also accused Kejriwal and AAP of being hand-in-glove with Congress, claiming the two were together trying to help each other.

"The anarchist attitude the AAP has adopted, it is the latest goon squad hired by the Congress party.

"Yesterday's incident proves beyong doubt that far more deeper games are being played in this country and the latest deals which have been unearthed from either within the country or outside the country whether it is UK, Italy or Sweden. This is a diversionary tactic by Congress to take away the focus from the real issues," Lekhi said.

Accusing AAP of spreading anarchy and vitiating the atmosphere ahead of polls, BJP demanded strict action against it from the Election Commission alleging that some foreign forces were behind such violent incidents to create instability in the country and demanded a probe.

"We have asked the Election Commission to initiate steps against the new outfit to stop it from disturbing the peaceful atmosphere. We fear more such incidents in the coming days and have asked the EC to take steps so that such instability and anarchy is not spread byAAP. It seems some foreign forces are conspiring to create instability in the country," Naqvi said after a meeting with the poll body.
