Missing boy found via WhatsApp

UP police were able to trace the boy using WhatsApp

Lucknow: The UP police, for the first time, innovatively used technology to trace an 11-year-old boy who had gone missing in Bareilly district on Sunday. The police used the WhatsApp messenger to trace the boy.

According to reports, the boy, Parminder Singh, left his house at around 7 am on Sunday on a bicycle and did not return home. His family searched for him for several hours and, when it failed to locate the boy, informed the police.
S.P. Singh, additional superintendent (crime), who led the search, said after failing to locate him, the police uploaded the boy’s photo and the mobile numbers of his family and the police on WhatsApp and flashed it on mobiles in the Bareilly region.

“Within hours we got a call from a student, travelling on the Doon Express, that the boy was sitting in front of him. He had seen the WhatsApp message,” Mr Singh said.
The boy was later reunited with his family.
