Where is the world’s biggest tree?
Locally known only as ‘The President’, a giant sequoia, located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Visalia, California, is one of the world’s biggest trees.
It is believed to be at least 3,200 years old, and according to Distractify, it has over four billion leaves. It stands 75 m tall and is about 69 cm in diameter at its base.
It was named after President Warren G. Harding in 1923 and it continues to grow wider at a consistent rate. Sliced into cubes, the tree could cover an entire football field.
The entire tree had never been photographed in its entirety, and recently, a team of photographers from National Geographic worked with scientists from Nevada’s Sequoia National Park to get a complete image.
The website reported that multiple photos were used to create the final image, which were shot using some state-of-the-art technology especially to capture pictures from higher up. The ultimate image is a combination of 126 different photographs!
