Andhra Pradesh: Kiran Kumar Reddy land sops to come up for review

Major decisions taken by the former CM will come under scrutiny

Hyderabad: The transgressions of former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, if any, relating to land matters will come to the fore, thanks to a cleansing exercise taken up by the revenue department.

Other major recent decisions taken by the former CM that might prove to be detrimental for the state’s interests will also come under scrutiny with Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan asking the government to fish out all such files.

Mr Narasimhan has directed chief secretary P.K. Mohanty to relook into decisions taken in the last two months and submit a report. He wanted the departm-ents not to issue any orders based on the recommendations made by Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy if they were found to be in violation or relaxation of rules or by using discretionary power.

Official sources told this newspaper that a circular has been sent to all sections in the revenue department in the Secretariat to prepare an inventory of files in four categories. Personnel will have to list all the files sent to the CMO, those returned to the department with a recommendation by the former chief minister and/or minister (N. Raghuveera Reddy) overruling the opinion expressed by the department including principal secretary, those sent to the CMO by the department overlooking the rule position and finally the list of files sent back by the CMO without taking any decision.
