B-town’s Baby Doll

With the Ragini MMS 2 song going viral, Sunny has become a force to reckon with

The world knows Sunny Leone as a former pornstar but to Indians these days, she is the Baby Doll girl. Born Karenjit Kaur Vohra, Sunny, who is on every TV channel for the song from Ragini MMS 2, has absolutely no airs about herself. After acting in a horror film and now hosting a horror show, Haunted Weekends on MTV, we ask Sunny what’s with all this horror? Giggling like a teenager, she says, “I was always spooked and interested by horror right from when I was a child.”

“The sets of Ragini MMS 2 were really scary and horror is not an easy genre. To bring out the fear is very difficult, and that was probably the scariest part,” she adds. Talking about transitioning from porn to Bollywood, she says, “I have only my fans to thank. They are seeing another chapter of my life and they like it. I’m glad that they are supporting me in whatever I do.”

With her crazy fan following, how does she manage to stay above it all? “The adulation is okay. But sometimes people feel that they can do or say whatever they want. It’s hurtful. They tend to forget that I have feelings too. I try to avoid such people as much as possible. That’s all that can be done,” she says. About working with Ekta Kapoor, who is known to be a tough taskmaster, Sunny says, “Ekta is really sweet. I rarely got to meet her, but whenever she’d come down to the sets, she’d tell me how I was doing. The other day she called me and told me that I did a fantastic job with Ragini.”

With Baby Doll going viral, Sunny can’t control her excitement. “I’ve worked really hard on the song and the movie. I don’t come from a dance background so the steps were quite a task, and I had to rehearse many, many times. But I’m more than happy with the outcome,” she says.

Asked if she knew that the song would turn out to be such a hit, she says, “No. In fact I was worried. I get worried before every project. Worry is good,” she smiles. Recently there were reports that Salman Khan was promoting Sunny Leone, is there any truth to this? “No! I don’t know of any such thing. If he is promoting me, that’s a fantastic thing, but if he is not, it’s still a nice rumour,” she laughs.

Sunny, whose next film is titled Tina and Lolo, says she would love to work down South. “I’d love to. If the script interests me, there is nothing like it then. I have already done a song down South, the steps were so cute,” she smiles.
