Asia Cup erases Pak-Bangladesh tension

Pakistan team traveled to Bangladesh despite some fears of anti-Pakistan protests

Islamabad: Asia Cricket Cup has broken the ice between Pakistan and Bangladesh, bringing an end to the recent war of words after Dhaka hanged a pro-Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Qadir Molla.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is a strong fan of cricket sent Pakistan team to Bangladesh despite some fears of anti-Pakistan protests.

However, the team officials have reported that there were no anti-Pakistani feelings and that Bangladeshi side sincerely coordinated and cooperated to ensure security to all Pakistan’s players.

A senior Pakistani Foreign Ministry official while appreciating the thaw, expressed hope that the two governments would make a fresh start to improve relationship and initiate full cooperation for the betterment of the two people.

The official noted that Pakistan’s closet strategic allies and friends have also played an important role in bringing down the tension between the two governments particularly during the elections process in Bangladesh.
