Subrata Roy pleads for mercy after Supreme Court issues Non bailable warrant against him

Sahara chief Subrata Roy filed a plea in the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking recall of the non-bailable arrest warrant

New Delhi: The apex court had on Wednesday issued the arrest warrant for his failure to appear before it, despite being summoned, in a contempt case arising out of non refund of Rs 20,000 crore to investors. Offering unconditional apology to the apex court for his non-appearance, Roy sought recall of the apex court's order and police was ordered to arrest and produce him before it on March 4.

In an application filed by Mr Roy, he admitted that he had “erred” by his non-appearance under a bonafide belief that the court will permit him personal exemption from appearance for one day. He appealed to the “humane side” of the court to consider sympathetically the wishes of his mother and permit him to be with her.
