Kissing scenes ensure good box office openings: Karan Johar
Mumbai: Karan Johar says that he likes on screen kissing scenes as they ensure great box office openings.
"I like watching kissing scenes on screen. I enjoy it. The new generation of actors don't shy away from it. Kissing brings good openings (at the box office) and it is a wonderful thing," Karan said at the trailer launch of movie '2 States' today.
Alia Bhatt had her first on screen kiss with co-star Sidharth Malhotra in her debut film 'Student Of The Year' in 2012 and she has also locked lips with Arjun Kapoor for her forthcoming film '2 States' which features three kissing scenes.
When asked about rumours of "something brewing" between Alia and director Abhishek Varman, Karan Johar said "This is news to me. I thought there is something going on between Alia and Arjun".
Johar has also has denied reports of signing Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh for his most talked about project 'Shuddhi'.
The film initially had Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead, but later both of them walked out of the project.
There were reports that Ranveer and Deepika might replace Hrithik and Kareena in 'Shuddhi'. When asked if Ranveer and Deepika would be doing 'Shuddhi', Karan said, "No they are not finalised." He refused to divulge any further details.
A few days back Karan had announced that 'Shuddhi' will release in 2015 and the star cast will be finalised soon. The film got postponed due to Hrithik's health.
But later, the actor surprised everyone by saying he won't be doing 'Shuddhi'. Kareena too bowed out of the project since it was getting delayed.
