Signatures not forged: rebel RJD MLA
PATNA: With Samrat Chaudhary, the most recalcitrant rebel among the RJD’s group of disgruntled legislators, insisting that the 13 MLAs had, in fact, signed the letter to the Speaker seeking the status of a separate political entity, mystery deepened around the whole imbroglio on Wednesday, turning RJD leaders more cautious. The cracks in the RJD developed over months due to weakening leadership and burst open in the form of the MLAs making an abortive bid for a split because, according to RJD sources, both political despair and greed spread among the MLAs while party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was out of touch with them. RJD insiders say Mr Mr Yadav was so obsessed with getting the Congress and the LJP to ally with the RJD that he was in the dark and in denial mode about the MLAs drifting away.
