Kiran tries to force President rule
Hyderabad: Caretaker Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy wants to fix the Congress high command so that President’s Rule is imposed in the state, he informed Seemandhra Congress leaders a few days back. On Tuesday, Raj Bhavan sources confirmed that they have received a letter from Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy written to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan requesting him to relieve him from the responsibilities as a caretaker Chief Minister.
In his letter, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned the Governor for not making alternative arrangements even after six days of his resignation. He said, “I have accepted to continue as a Chief Minister after my resignation as per the requirement of the Constitution, but even after six days if no alternate arrangements have been made, it may not be proper for me to continue in office inordinately.”
Before his resignation, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy had informed Seemandhra Congress leaders that the Centre will impose President’s Rule after his resignation and hence there will be no chance for formation of new government. But the Congress sources said that the high command had taken up the exercise to form a new government. After learning this, Mr Kiran Ku-mar Reddy wrote a letter to the Governor requesting him to relieve him from his responsibilities.
According to sources close to Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, it will take some time and also not an easy task for the high command to form a new government and select a new Chief Minister. If Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy pressurises the Gover-nor to relieve him, the Congress high command will have no option but to opt for imposing Pre-sident’s Rule.
