Chennai: With an eye on a prominent role at the Centre, AIADMK chief and Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa promised to extend her populist schemes such as distribution of free mixers, grinders, fans, milch cows and goats across the country in the party’s election manifesto released on Tuesday. Taking a clear stand on national issues, the party also promised interlinking of rivers, passing of Women’s Bill and of taking measures against privatisation in the manifesto. On Sri Lankan issue, the manifesto called for a referendum among Tamils in Sri Lanka and displaced Sri Lankan Tamils across the world for a separate Tamil Eelam, besides steps to retrieve Katchatheevu. “We have spelt out many policies and promises to implement schemes aimed at not only the development and growth of Tamil Nadu but the development and growth of India.
We will ensure the implementation of the laudable schemes at all-India level,” Ms Jayalalithaa said. The party has also promised efforts for recovery of Indian black money stashed in foreign havens.
