BJP ready to apologise

We will bow our heads for any mistake, Rajnath tells Muslims
New Delhi: The BJP, desperate to get rid of the “communal” tag that is keeping away possible allies, said on Tuesday that it is willing to “apologise if it had made any mistake in the past,” in an apparent reference to the 2002 post Godhra riots.
BJP president Rajnath Singh, reaching out to Muslims, said: “Please note that whenever, wherever if there has been any mistake and shortcoming on our part, I assure you that we will apologise to you by bowing our heads.... Try us once.”
He was speaking at an event titled ‘Narendra Modi’s Mission 272+: Role of Muslims’ that was organised by the BJP’s minority cell.
“Unko dekha baar baar, kamse kam humko dekho ek baar (You have seen them so many times, at least try us once),” said the BJP chief.
Quoting its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s definition of secularism as “India first,” Mr Singh said that while the Congress in its 55 years of rule had practiced “vote bank politics,” the BJP will do the politics of “insaniyat (humanity).”
Citing an earlier ruling of the apex court, the BJP president said Hindiusm is a way of life and there has always been an attempt by its opposition to paint the BJP has “minority haters.” He even cited the “clean chit” given to Mr Modi to 2002 Gujarat riots case.
