KCR seeks President's nod to Telangana
Hyderabad : TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday and sought his "golden signature" on the AP Reorganisation Bill for the creation of the new state of Telangana at the earliest. Mr Rao also thanked Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of the four crore Telanganites for his support in making Telangana a reality and sought his blessings for the development of the new state in future.
Earlier in the day, the TRS chief met AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi and Congress state incharge Digvijay Singh and discussed the next course of action involving mergers or alliances in the wake of the ensuing elections, present political scenario, among other issues.
"Today we met his Excellency the President of India in a delegation for seeking his blessings. Telangana state is now a reality and his final golden signature is awaited. With that signature the state will come into being," Mr Rao said. He added, "We sought his blessings for the future development of Telangana. He was kind enough to grace us with a photo session and also said his blessings will always be th-ere with us for the future development of Telangana." TRS leaders said that Mr Rao touched Mr Mukherjee’s feet in reverence and sought his support.
As far as the question of merger or alliance with the Congress is concerned, it is being speculated that the TRS leaders and workers prefer an alliance over merger. Dr K. Keshav Rao, Dr Manda Jagannadam, poet Desapati Srinivas and others accompanied KCR. Meanwhile, TRS leadership and TRS Greater Hyderabad unit is planning a grand welcome for Mr Rao when he arrives at Begumpet airport by a special flight from New Delhi on Wednesday.
