Congress holds off on President rule in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: With the Telangana and Seemandhra Congress leaders opposed to President’s Rule, the party high command is seriously thinking about forming a new government in Andhra Pradesh.
On Monday, All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijay Singh held a series of meetings with state party leaders including Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao and others in Delhi.
Mr Singh had summoned senior party leaders, ministers and MPs of the state to Delhi for a meeting on Tuesday morning to take a final decision on whether to impose President’s Rule or form a new government. Meanwhile Congress leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra have started hectic lobbying for the Chief Minister’s post. After Kiran Kumar Reddy’s resignation, the Governor had sent a report to the Centre favoring President’s Rule.
