Gas dealers put off strike plan

Hyderabad:LPG gas agencies have deferred their decision to go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday after the Centre agreed to look into their demands ‘positively’ within two months. The AP LPG Dealers Association had earlier announced that all gas agencies will remain shut from February 25 in response to the nationwide strike call given by the All-India LPG Dealers Association.
The agencies have been demanding scrapping of the ‘faulty’ Aadhaar-LPG linkage system, multiple pricing of cylinders and revised marketing discipline guidelines imposing heavy penalties and termination of dealerships. “The Centre has agreed to set up a high-power committee to look into our demands. We have decided to defer our strike following the request made by OMCs. If the Centre fails to resolve our issues within two months, we will go on strike again,” said Mr D. Ashok Kumar, president, Hyderabad LPG Dealers Association.
