Newborn's body found in swimming pool
The body of a newborn baby was found in the swimming pool of late Bollywood actress Nutan’s son’s farmhouse at Parsik Hill in Kharegaon near Mumbai on Saturday.
Police say that the body, which had been in the pool, wrapped in a plastic bag, for the last five days, was recovered in a highly decomposed state.
The decay was already so much that it could not even be ascertained whether the child, aged less than a week, was a boy or a girl.
While the body of the baby has been sent for post-mortem, the police is trying to trace the culprits who abandoned the child there.
Talking to DC, actor Mohnish Behl, expresses his anguish about what he believe is female infanticide.
“It’s sad that something like this occurred. I was at my home in Colaba and we have a farmhouse 50-60 km from Mumbai, which has been locked for almost 15 years now. My local manager called me in the morning and said there was a plastic bag with a body found in the swimming pool. I was stunned and asked them to report the matter to the police at the earliest. After that I rushed to our farmhouse to see what the matter was. Police is still investigating the matter and the culprits are yet to be caught.
I have always read about such horrific stories of female infanticide but it’s shocking that crimes like these happen even today,” he says.
A furious Mohnish adds, “If you don’t want the baby at least don’t kill her, give the baby up for adoption. We are proud parents of two beautiful girls and this incident has just come on my face.
It’s horrifying. I can’t get the visual out of my head. It’s sad and people should stop it.”
