Torn mikes, paper missiles as Oppn disrupts Delhi Assembly; Ambani brought Cong, BJP together, says Kejriwal

New Delhi: Delhi Assembly on Thursday witnessed unprecedented chaotic scenes on the first day of a special session as BJP and Congress MLAs joined hands in disrupting proceedings by throwing files, destroying mikes, flagging banners and trooping to the well demanding Law Minister Somnath Bharti's resignation over the midnight raid episode.

Congress, which provides outside support to AAP government, and BJP legislators accused Bharti of being 'racist' and harassing a number of women from Africa last month in Khirki Extension. They demanded that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remove him from the cabinet.

In a new low, BJP legislator from Rajendra Nagar RP Singh tore papers and threw them at Bharti and later placed bangles and lipstick before him while Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan destroyed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's microphone and tore Speaker M.S. Dhir's files.

A number of Congress and BJP MLAs destroyed microphones and used unparliamentary language against Bharti. Some BJP MLAs even held Speaker's hand trying to prevent him from using the microphone.

The Speaker agreed to accept Congress' Call Attention motion for a discussion on allegation against Bharti after fourth adjournment of the House. However, immediately Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely moved a resolution to curtail Speaker's power to suspend any MLA from the House which was accepted by voice vote.

Immediately after the voting, leader of Opposition Harsh Vardhan rose from his seat and said the party did not want any discussion on Bharti issue and pressed for resignation of the Law Minister following which House was adjourned for the day.

"Today the match-fixing by the Congress and BJP was exposed. They got many resolutions passed. I don't think any legislature in the country has seen BJP and Congress joining hands this way. They were taking turns in trooping into the well of the House," Kejriwal told reporters later.

The Chief Minister accused both the parties of being 'hand-in-glove' in 'fleecing' people of Delhi and said they did not allow the a single business transaction in the House.

"The reason for the two parties to join hands is Mukesh Ambani. He brought them together. Two days back an FIR was registered against Ambani and none of these two parties is able to save him. They want to destroy AAP," said the Chief Minister.

"Congress says it is supporting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but today it has become absolutely clear that it is not supporting us. Congress is supporting BJP," he said.

The chief minister alleged that BJP was benefited in so many ways when Congress was in power and there was 'no opposition' in Delhi for last 15 years. "When the BJP was not slogan-shouting, then the Congress took over. When the Congress stopped, the BJP took over. It was coordinated.

"We got to see many astonishing scenes. There has been a match fixing between Congress and BJP during the last 20 years since Delhi assembly started functioning. Politicians from both parties used to get contracts. There was no opposition. The nexus between them had not come to light," Kejriwal said.

He said BJP shouted slogans and Congress had posters on the same issue which raised doubts whether 'they were working together in the night to make those posters'.

"It was remarkable to see them working in tandem. I don't have any proof why this happened. Has the FIR against Ambani prompted both of them to aggressively attack us? This has exposed their behind-the-curtain agreement," he said.

As the House began, the BJP legislators demanding Bharti's resignation trooped into Well and shouted slogans which led to its adjournment. Later when the proceedings resumed, the House had to be adjourned twice for 20 minutes each following uproar by both BJP and Congress MLAs over the issue.

A number of Congress and BJP legislators threw papers and destroyed mikes as part of their protest against Bharti. Though the House was adjourned for 20 minutes for the third time, it met after nearly an hour as the Speaker was holding meeting with leaders of the parties. Later a number of Congress and BJP leaders took exception to it accusing Dhir of not following norms and rules.

The lone JD(U) MLA and the Independent legislator had also joined Congress and BJP in their protest. Senior Congress MLA Jai Kishan had placed ginger before Kejriwal and Dhir, saying it will help their throat problem.

"It was black day in Assembly's history. We only wanted a discussion on our Call Attention motion. But the Speaker did not allow it. The AAP leadership is behaving like a dictator," DPCC chief Lovely, who led the Congress legislators to the Well of the House couple of times, told reporters later.

Lovely, who was also seen holding a microphone to prevent Dhir from using it, said as his resolution to suspend powers of the Speaker was passed, Dhir will not be able to exercise it till the House withdraws the resolution.

"The Speaker did not follow any rule. When the House was adjourned for 20 minutes, how can the Speaker convene it after one hour," he asked. Almost all Congress MLAs were holding placards demanding Bharti's resignation. BJP leaders including Vardhan also slammed AAP for not taking action against Bharti.

AAP slams Jung for not disclosing association with Ambani

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday fired a fresh salvo against Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung for not making public his association with Mukesh Ambani headed Reliance Industries.

Attacking Jung over the Reliance Gas issue, party spokesperson Ashutosh said that Jung had worked with the 'Ambanis' in the past and he should have posted these facts on his website.

"Lt Governor Jung had worked with Ambanis in London, in India, was part of his think tank. Why these facts are not posted on LG's official website!" he tweeted. This is the third time since last week that AAP has hit out at the Lt Governor.

Incidentally, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in his interview to PTI last week, had said that he did not approve Ashutosh calling Lt Governor a 'Congress agent'.

"I think we should be careful with our words. There could be anguish in the minds of some of our party leaders, but whatever be the intensity of our anguish we should mind our words," he had said.

The journalist-turned-politician also attacked BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for keeping mum on the Reliance gas issue. "Reliance (gas) issue proves to whom BJP, Modi and Jaitley are loyal to - to Mother India or Mukesh Ambani !!!" he tweeted.
