Congress is 'sinking' all over India, says Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik
New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik said the Congress party is 'sinking' all over the country including Odisha. Patnaik dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations as 'totally baseless', that the BJD government had embezzled central funds meant for the welfare of the poor and the tribals.
Rahul Gandhi yesterday targeted Patnaik, accusing the BJD government of corruption, misuse of central funds, and siding with the mining mafia in the mineral-rich state.
The Congress Vice President trained his guns at Patnaik during a party rally at Bhatapada village in Cuttack district, saying, that minerals like iron ore and manganese has been lootedfrom the state, and only a handful of people have benefited from this wide spread loot, while a majority of people are still suffering.
Besides the Lok Sabha polls, the state will also witness assembly polls this year. The Chief Minister also added that he did not think that Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha will have much impact, in the oncoming assembly and general elections.
Patnaik was in New Delhi for receiving Krishi awards from President Pranab Mukherjee for the state's excellent performance in foodgrain production.
