PSU bank staff on two-day strike; services hit all over the country
Banking services all over the country have been affected after Public Sector Union banks and Nationalized banks went on a two-day strike from today.
ATM’s belonging to nationalized and PSU banks too are about to go dry soon, since 9th February was a holiday.
The two-day strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions, to press for a wage revision.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella organization of nine bank employees and officers unions representing about eight lakh employees, decided to go on strike after the recent talks between theLabour Ministry and the Unions held in New Delhi failed.
Because of the strike, cheques worth several crore of rupees remained uncleared while other transactions such as cash withdrawal and cash and cheque deposits could not be done.
Industrial segment had to face tough times as they lamented that their business transactions were adversely affected.
