Snap ties with RSS to connect to Muslims: Congress to Narendra Modi

Snap ties with RSS if you want to connect to Muslims, Sibal tells BJP PM candidate.

New Delhi: As BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi reaches out to Muslims through a business conclave for them in Gujarat, Congress on Friday said if he is really keen on taking everyone along, then he should severe ties with RSS.

Rubbishing BJP's attempts to woo Muslim community, Law Minister Kapil Sibal said BJP seemingly has 'one face for the elections while there are various other faces working behind the scene.'

"If they want to take everyone along, then they should change their policies. Modi should say he has no links with RSS," Sibal told reporters. Modi inaugurated a three-day business conclave in Ahmedabad Friday, to provide a platform for Muslim entrepreneurs to network with their Hindu counterparts.

To buttress his points that 'BJP has many faces' Sibal cited the controversial interview of Swami Aseemanand, an accused in the Samjhauta Express and other blast cases, in which he claimed that the RSS had "sanctioned" the terror acts.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Friday reached out to the Muslim community by attending a conclave organised by its business representatives as he called for creating a healthy society by brining all groups together and adopting a growth model that ensures equality. The BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate said ensuring security, equality and prosperity of people is necessary for the country's growth.

Close to 50 exhibitors have set up stalls showcasing their products at the event, organised by Muslim businessmen, whose theme is 'Harmony in business - Lets grow together'. The participants range from automobile sector to Information Technology to realty.

Modi batted for all-round development and said Gujarat's inherent quality is its entrepreneurial society. Irrespective of which community a person belongs to, it is important to be competitive in Friday's world to show our capability, he maintained.

"A healthy society can only be built by taking all communities together. There is a need to adapt a growth model that ensures equality." Highlighting four facets of Gujarat's growth story - security, equality, prosperity and activity - Modi said adherence to these principles in all Government and societal initiatives had ensured a safe and secure living for the people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or status.
