Facebook founder Zuckerberg says 'best still to come' on 10th anniversary

Johannesburg: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, celebrating the social networking giant's decade long 'amazing' journey, has reportedly said that the 'best is still to come'.

On his own Facebook post, Zuckerberg wrote that he was grateful to be part of the site's amazing journey, adding that it is rare to be able to touch so many people's lives, and he tries to remind himself to have the biggest impact he can.

According to News 24, the founder said that Facebook succeeded because they just cared more about connecting the world than anyone else.

He said the first decade was about bootstrapping this network and now they have the resources to help people across the world solve even bigger and more important problems.

Zuckerberg further wrote in his post that he sees a different role for Facebook in the future as today, social networks are mostly about sharing moments , but in the next decade, they'll also help people answer questions and solve complex problems, the report added.

Washington: Marking its 10th birthday, social networking site Facebook reportedly provided its loyal users with a personalized video summary of their life so far on the site.

The 'Look Back' compilation contains around 15 of a user's most-likes photos, statuses, and life events set to a catchy tune.

According to The Verge, a small team at Facebook spent the last few months crafting the videos and ensuring that they had necessary resources to render hundreds of millions of HD videos and send them out to users in their notifications center.

Although, Facebook has issued 'Year In Review' compilations before, it is the first time the company ventured into providing the same in video form.

Facebook's engineering lead on the project, Nick Kwiatek said that Look Back is one of the company's largest video projects of all time, adding that rendering videos for as many people as they can was one of the things that motivated them.

The report said that each of the roughly one minute video has CEO Mark Zuckerberg's signature at the bottom.
