Telangana Bill will be taken up, says Digvijaya Singh
Hyderabad: The resolution adopted by voice vote in the state Legislature rejecting the Telangana Bill will not affect the Centre which will go ahead and introduce the Bill in the ensuing Parliament session, AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh said on Thursday in New Delhi.
He said the Congress and the Centre were aware that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy would do something to stall the Telangana Bill in the Assembly.
“We are aware of his moves, but they will not make any impact on our decision on Telangana. I think one major constitutional process under Article 3 has been successfully completed today,” he said.

Hyderabad: While Seemandhra ministers and MLAs notched up a win on Thursday by ensuring that the Telangana Bill was rejected by both Houses, the Telangana leaders were not too upset and claimed victory as they said that their target of ens-uring that the debate was over had been met.
Seemandhra leaders said that rejecting the Bill was a victory for those who were opposing division, while TelaÂnÂÂÂÂgana ministers and MLAs said that with the Bill being sent back to the President, their goal had been achieved and that the dream of the Telangana people would soon become reality.
The Telangana leaders were of the opinion that the resolution given by the CM had no value because the Bill had been sent to the AP Assembly only for its views and not to accept or to oppose it.
Moreover, the Speaker had moved the resolution after the debate on the Bill was over.
Deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha, along with other Telangana ministers and MLAs, said that by concluding the debate, the process for the formation of a Telangana state had been completed by the Assembly. He added that the House passing the resolution moved by the CM to reject the Bill was irrelevant.
He also said that the resolution, which was passed by voice vote by the House, was not part of the Bill and he appealed to the Telangana people not to worry over the claims of Seemandhra leaders that they had defeated the Bill in the Assembly.
Panchayat raj minister K. Jana Reddy said that the resolution moved by Kiran Kumar Reddy was unconstitutional and pointed out that under Article 3, the state Assembly had to give only its opinion.
Meanwhile, ministers from Seemandhra region Anam Rama Narayana Reddy, N. Raghuveera Reddy, S. Sailajanath and others said that passing of the official resolution rejecting the Telangana Bill was a victory for the Seemandhra people who were opposed to the state’s division. They added that both Houses had rejected the Bill and this had become part of the record.
