Puducherry: An explosive device resembling a pipe was recovered by the police from under a car parked in front of the home of Union minister, V. Narayanasamy here on Wednesday.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad team examined the pipe bomb diffused it.
Official said that it was a powerful explosive and was filled with 1.5 kg of powerful 90 explosive Gel X and 21 non electric detonators and 12 electric detonators.
The materials used in the pipe bomb were normally used by Maoists.
The minister’s driver, noticed the suspicious object under the car and on pulling it out found a partly burnt wire attached to what appeared to be an iron pipe.
He immediately alerted the security. Cops rushed to the spot and removed the explosive device.
