Telangana leaders furious as Chief Minister changes debate tactics
Hyderabad: Telangana leaders are furious at the delaying tactics adopted by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in seeking more time from the President for the debate on the Telangana Bill and calling the AP Reorganisation Bill 2013 “defective and full of mistakes”.
The Assembly has to wrap up its business by January 30, after the extension given by the President. By calling for a further extension of the deadline, Kiran Kumar has raised the hackles of the pro-Telangana legislators.
Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, Panchayat Raj minister K. Jana Reddy, IT minister Ponnala Laxmaiah and other Telangana ministers and MLAs are opposed to any further extension of the deadline to debate the Bill.
“There is no reason for further extension or continuation of the session under the present circumstances, especially in the wake of the Chief Minist-er’s notice under rule 77 of the Assembly, rejecting the Bill, and the vertical split in the Cabinet,”?a minister said.
Though the Speaker, Nadendla Manohar, is keen to complete the agenda, Telangana MLAs say it will lead nowhere given the changing stance of the CM and Seemandhra MLAs.
“Despite conspiracies at every step, Telangana cannot be stopped. Chief Minister calling the Bill defective and seeking further extension of time indicates his malafide intention to delay the Telangana Bill and stall the formation of Telangana, but he will not succeed,”?TRS floor leader in Assembly Etela Rajender said.
Meanwhile, TD has decided to insist on taking up the resolution rejecting the Telangana Bill and party MLAs plan overnight protests in Assembly if it was not taken up. They plan to go to Delhi and meet the Prez in this regard.
“Going by Assembly rules, we have to complete discussion on the AP Reorganisation Bill before taking up any other issue. But the Assembly has been plunged into chaos due to the mistakes of the government,”?MIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi said.
CPI floor leader, Gunda Mallesh objected to the Chief Minister seeking further extension of the assembly session. "It's meaningless. A large number of legislators
have already aired their views and it's ridiculous to demand sending back the bill after a long debate and seeking further extension of time," he said.

Many non-members attend BAC meet after Assembly adjourned
Hyderabad: The Business Advisory Committee meeting held on Tuesday turned into a mini Assembly attended by several MLAs who are non-members. The BAC meeting ended without any decision being taken and members differing in opinions on the Telangana Bill voting and on the notice by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy seeking permission to move a resolution rejecting the Bill.
The Chief Minister and Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu skipped the BAC meeting.
A stalemate also continued in the Assembly on Tuesday as legislators from Telangana stalled the proceedings demanding the Speaker to reject a notice given by the Chief Minister for rejecting the Telangana Bill.
Speaker N. Manohar adjourned the house for the day without any debate on Telangana Bill. After that Manohar held the BAC meeting at his chamber. Surprisingly, many MLAs who are not members attended it.
The speaker asked the non-members at the beginning to not speak in the meeting. Ministers from Seemandhra Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy asked the Speaker to accept the notice which was given by the Chief Minister and allow moving a resolution on rejecting the Telangana Bill by voting.
They asked for an extension of deadline as there are many members who need to express their opinions on the Bill. But the Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha opposed and asked the Speaker to reject the notice given by the CM. He said that the debate should be completed by January 30 and opposed voting on the Bill too.
TRS members said if the CM withdrew his notice, they would cooperate to continue the debate in the house.
YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi asked the Speaker to allow them to move a resolution in favour of united Andhra Pradesh.
according to the notice which was given by them. She said that her party would support whoever moves the resolution in favour of Samaikyandhra. TDP member Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu said if majority wants, speaker has to allow for voting on the Bill. When asked about this, the Speaker said he would follow the rules.
MIM leader Akbaruddin asked if in the next two days also the house had to be adjourned without any debate, what the speakerwould do. Replying to this, the Speaker said that he will send the report on whatever happens in the house by January 30 deadline set by the President of India.
