Happy BCCI acknowledges my win: Modi

New Delhi: In London, Mr Lalit Modi said he was happy at the BCCI’s concession, it was frustrating that declaration of the RCA poll result had been put off again. “I am disappointed,” he said.

“I am surprised that the BCCI seemed to know the result before anyone else, and before the court pronounced it. But extremely happy that they think I have won,” Mr Modi was quoted by a news agency as saying.

It is learnt BCCI counsel C.A. Sundaram and senior advocate Haren Raval, appearing for Mr Sharma, said Mr Modi, who was banned for life by the BCCI, could not have contested the RCA poll and that he had fled to London after accusations that he had swindled millions while he was IPL chief.

Opposing this, Mr Modi’s counsel Harish Salve said Mr Srinivasan was continuing as BCCI chief even though his son-in-law faced a criminal case over the “spot-fixing” scandal that erupted in the last stages of IPL-6. Mr Modi said in London: “I am disappointed that yet again we have to wait for the results to be opened due to the BCCI wanting more time to explain their stand on how they should be allowed to interfere with the democratic process.”

On Twitter, Mr Modi took yet another dig at the board. “Anyone contesting elections should take Bcci as its adviser as they seem to be able to declare the result”.

The section that is opposing Mr Modi says allowing him to take over will lead to the RCA?being barred from playing domestic cricket by the BCCI as Mr Modi has already been banned by the board from holding any post for life.
