Jayalalithaa replaces candidate for RS polls, expels him
Chennai: AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu chief minister chief minister J Jayalalithaa has replaced one of her candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls and even expelled him from the party for “anti-party activities and going against party principles”.
Tuticorin district panchayat president N. Chinnadurai has been replaced as one of the four AIADMK RS candidates with party’s organising secretary A K Selvaraj.
In a statement, Ms JayaÂlalithaa announced the exÂpulsion of Chinnadurai for “indulging in anti-party activities and going against party principles bringing disrepute to the ruliÂng AIADMK.”
He was also the district secretary of the party’s ‘ilaignar pasarai’. Ms Jayalalithaa had on Thursday announced her four candidates for the February 7 RS elections while extending support to CPI-M, which renominated sitting MP, T.K. Rangarajan.
The action against Chinnadurai once again demonstrates that the AIADMK high command would not tolerate any misdeeds and misconduct on the part of its functionaries and would not hesitate to crack the whip. Some serious allegations against Chinnadurai have come to light.
