Violence after TP Chandrasekharan?verdict
Kozhikode: In the post-TPC case verdict period, the CPM-RMP clashes intensified in Vadakara-Nadapuram region and parts of Kannur district forcing the police to beef up surveillance and security. The police suspected that apart from politicians, anti-social elements also would try to create problems between two parties to cash in the violence.
A country bomb exploded in the wee hours of Saturday at OP Mukku, Valayam. The gun powder and other ingredients for making bombs were buried in a plastic bucket near the compound wall of Kundyalil Kunhabdulla which exploded at 6 a.m.
Agricultural crops near the area also were destroyed. Nadapuram Circle Inspector A.S. Sureshkumar said that the content in the bucket was sufficient to make up to 12 bombs. Another such incident was reported from Chombala police station limits earlier.
The bomb squad visited the spot. In another incident, six homes were stoned at Kakkad road in Kannur by unidentified culprits in the wee hours of the day. Three cars also were damaged. Police are still groping in the dark about the culprits.
Stray incidents of violence were reported from the rural areas of the district on Friday. The police had anticipated violence in the wake of the TPC murder case verdict on Wednesday. At least eight persons, including a woman, were injured in three incidents.
