Esther’s dad flays cops, Sushil Kumar Shinde moves in

Home minister asks Maha government for detailed probe.

Hyderabad: Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde urged the Maharashtra government to take action in the murder of 23-year-old Esther Anuhya, whose burnt body was found in the swamps in Mumbai outskirts.

This was after her father S.J.S. Prasad met Shinde on Friday requesting a thorough probe and justice for his daughter. He informed the home minister about the lack of arrests in the case despite a lapse of twenty days.

Prasad met Shinde on Friday along with Machilipatnam MP K. Narayana Rao and Rajya Sabha member Y. S. Chowdhary. He informed Shinde of the apathy on part of Railway police and Mumbai police officials towards the case after she went missing on January 4.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Shinde, Prasad said police didn’t help them at all after they lost contact with Anuhya and her body was recovered ten days after that.

He also said that no parent should face the kind the trauma that he has faced. Prasad said that Shinde’s response also was quite apathetic. Shinde, however, later wrote to Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil requesting action in the case.

Policemen are yet to nab the murderers. They suspect she was abducted and raped by a group of taxi drivers.
