Rickshaw-puller inaugurates hospital in Delhi
New Delhi: It was an inauguration with a difference where Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stood among spectators as a rickshaw-puller cut the ribbon inaugurating New Delhi Municipal Council's upgraded Palika Maternity Hospital in Lodhi Colony on Saturday.
60-year-old Vijay Baba, who is living in Delhi for the last 50 years, could not believe his ears when the CM's office informed him about inaugurating the hospital.
"Never in my dreams I had thought that I would be inaugurating a hospital with the Chief Minister at my side. It is a big honour," Baba said.
Kejriwal had recommended Baba's name when the NDMC had invited him to inaugurate the facility.
The inauguration stone has the rickshaw-puller's name on top followed by MP Ajay Maken and Kejriwal.
Baba, native of Bihar, has been campaigning for AAP for the last three years.
