Customers complain over non-delivery of LPG cylinders
Kochi: At a time when a lot of heat is generated on the issue of subsidy for LPG cylinders and its linking to Aadhar, several consumers in the district are complaining that the cylinders are not delivered at their doorsteps.
According to them they are being forced to shell out another Rs 40 to Rs 50 to take the cylinders to their homes.
“We are forced to deposit the empty cylinders with people residing on the main road as the Lorries carrying the LPG cylinders refuse to enter the by lane, though it is wide enough to accommodate the vehicle. Around 50 houses in our locality are forced to take it from the road side. Sometimes we have to beg those residing on the roadside to allow us to deposit the cylinders,” said Babu K David, who is a customer of Soorya Gas, at Amballur, who resides in Edakkattuvayal, near Mulanthuruthy.
Soorya Gas is an agency of Bharat Gas.A senior IOC official said the rule in this regard for all oil firms is that the delivery boy should not only deliver the LPG cylinder at the doorsteps, but also weigh them by carrying a weighing scale to show that it carries the correct weight and also convince the customer that it’s leak- free using the leak detector.
“The issue can be taken up with the oil companies and also with consumer courts so as to enforce door delivery by the agencies,” he said.
