Man kills ailing 3-year-old son
Hyderabad: Depressed over his three-year-old son’s chronic illness a man killed the child at their house in Hayathnagar on Wednesday.
The man had spent a large amount of money on his son’s treatment, but the child’s condition kept deteriorating. The alleged killer, Srisailam, threw his son into the overhead water tank and killed him.
Srisailam is a shepherd, and stays with his wife and children at Hayathnagar.
Inspector G. Srinivas Kumar said that Srisailam’s son Balamallesh was suffering from congenital renal problems. He was treated by many specialists, but his condition worsened.
“He was being treated, but there was no improvement. The father was depressed. They admitted the child to hospital and he was recently discharged,” Kumar said.
The doctors treating Balamallesh had told Srisailam that even if he was operated on, it would not be useful, and he may have to suffer throughout his life.
The child used to suffer from frequent urination even after discharge from hospital. Balamallesh used to complain of severe pain all over his body. At times, he used to cry aloud with pain even when merely touched.
On Wednesday, at around 5 am, when others were asleep Srisailam took his son to the terrace, and threw him into the overhead water tank.
Later, he told everyone about that his son had died. Based on a complaint a case was registered. Srisailam has not been arrested yet. Sources said the police has already taken him into custody but had not recorded it.
The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem and was later handed over to the family for last rites.
