Dad’s ideas are all extinct: Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt may be just one film old in the industry, but she speaks like a pro. Referring to her role in Imtiaz Ali’s 'Highway', which is set to release on February 21, she says, “I took up the role in 'Highway' simply because I could see myself as the character while I was reading the script.”

Shot across six states, the making of 'Highway' involved a lot of travel for the cast and crew. “It drained me physically as well as mentally because I had to learn the nuances of being a raw traveller,” Alia admits.

Since 'Highway' is not a ‘masala’ entertainer, is she worried about its box-office results? “I don’t think that only masala films do wonders. A good and meaningful film will do well regardless. Of course, it’s a gamble and I may not get a big weekend opening since I’m only one film old. But Imtiaz has carved a niche for himself among the youth and they love his films. Let’s hope for the best,” she says.

The story is about two opposite characters thrown together by fate. About her co-star Randeep Hooda, she says, “Working with him was a great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Talking about daddy Mahesh Bhatt, she says, I want him to direct me in a film, but he has decided never to direct again. Looks like his ideas are all extinct!” she jokes.
