DMK Rajya Sabha candidate files papers

Election Commission anno­un­ces that the polling will be held on February 7.

Chennai: DMK nominee Tiruchy N. Siva on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections.

Accompanied by party treasurer M.K. Stalin and senior leaders, inc­lu­ding Durai­mur­ugan, the two-time Rajya Sabha MP filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer A.M.P. Jamal­udeen at the Secretariat here.

The terms of six RS MPs, two each fr­om Con­gress and DMK, one from AIADMK and CPI-M will end by April 2, 2014.

The EC has anno­un­ced that polling will be held on February 7, if necessary.

Meanwhile, Stalin who invited MMK leaders personally for the pa­rty’s state conference in Fe­bruary reiterated to mediapersons that MMK and VCK leaders have already urged DMDK le­a­der to join the alliance and Kalaignar had welco­med it.
