Thiruvananthapuram: After the huge success of the mass contact programme, chief minister Oommen Chandy is all set to reach out to the people using smart phones and mobile applications.
The plan is to develop an innovative app on the Android platform that can be used by citizens. Once the app gets activated, the chief minister’s programmes and important information from his office will be just a touch away. It will act as an interface between the chief minister and the public.
With the setting up of the facility which has been named after him, Chandy will become the first chief minister to have a mobile app. To be launched within two months, it will bring news, photos and videos in real time.
“We have been planning this for a long time. We live in an era of smart phones and mobile applications and these are slowly replacing computers and laptops. The idea is to make available all information on mobile phone sets,’’ said an official at the chief minister’s office.
