Western countries' CO2 emissions being outsourced to emerging economies
London: A draft UN report has revealed that the west is increasingly outsourcing its carbon pollution to China and other emerging economies.
The emissions are being outsourced in the form of electronic gadgets and goods that are consumed in the western countries but are manufactured in China and other rising economies, exposing them to more pollution.
According to latest reports by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the emissions of carbon dioxide and the other greenhouse gases warming the planet grew twice as fast as they did during the previous three decades, Guardian reported
The increase in pollution is associated to burning of coal, mostly used to power factories in China and other nations that produce the goods to be exported to U.S and Europe.
An estimated 14 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide is reportedly emitted on an annual basis from China and other rising nations since 2000, raising concerns over possibility of dangerous climatic changes.
