Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu is shortlisting candidates for the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, and looking at possibilities for the two Rajya Sabha seats.
Party sources said that he plans to announce the first list of candidates much ahead of the scheduled elections. In fact, Mr Naidu had planned to announce the Lok Sabha and Assembly candidates last
year, but the sudden development on the Telangana front threw his plans awry. “Contrary to media reports, party chances have brightened in Seemandhra region due to the increasing credibility of Mr Naidu.
People have now realised that only Mr Naidu can bring about faster development in the Seemandhra region if the state is bifurcated and not Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. TD has an upper hand in Seemandhra, compared to YSRC,”?a TD?MLA said.
According to a party senior leader, many seniors and some juniors are seeking MP tickets, especially in view of the imminent alliance with BJP and the “Modi wave.” There is a strong rumour that Mr Naidu may opt for an MP seat, another party MLA said.
