Radhika assets: H.D. Kumaraswamy in a spot
Journo appeals Election Commission to disqualify Kumaraswamy for undisclosed assets.
Bangalore: A city-based journalist has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India seeking the disqualification of former chief minister and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy from the membership of the assembly for not disclosing the assets and liabilities of his second wife Radhika Kumaraswamy.
Journalist Nagalakshmi Bai filed the petition before the Chief Electoral Officer here on Monday saying that Kumaraswamy did not disclose details of the assets and liabilities of Radhika when he contested from Ramanagara constituency during the 2013 Assembly elections.
"Film actress, Radhika married H.D. Kumaraswamy and she went public about her marriage with Kumaraswamy. In spite of her declaration, Kumaraswamy did not declare details of the assets and liabilities of his second wife", Nagalakshmi Bai alleged.
Since Kumaraswamy has not declared assets and liabilities of his second wife, his assembly membership should be annulled under section 125-A of the Representative of People's Act-1951, she added.
Kumaraswamy attended the birthday celebrations of his and Radhika’s daughter. But he failed to declare the assets of his second wife, the complainant stated.
The Chief Electoral Officer assured her that he would serve notice to the respondent.
