She is not here only for ‘Paisa’

The winner of a local contest, Meena Hunt is all set to make her Sandalwood debut

Kaavya Sha, a petite damsel from Bengaluru first tasted stardom when she danced with the King Khan after winning a contest that was held to promote his film, Chennai Express. What followed was a spat of offers for hosting shows and working in films from various South Indian industries. Like all aspiring actors, she too was waiting for her perfect launch pad, till Paisa came knocking on her door.

“My life has completely changed after I won the Meena Hunt. When I was offered the lead role in Paisa, I knew this was the film I had to debut with,” says the pretty actress. The movie revolves around a girl from a middle class family who runs away from home. It is a situational film. “There are five characters and the entire cast and crew is the same as that of Raja Huli that starred Rocking star Yash. The only person missing is Yash,” adds the gold medalist in BBM. The shooting for Paisa will begin next month and should be ready for release by May. Kaavya has undergone a transformation in the last six months having has lost weight and has even started writing Kannada poems to improve her language. She is currently in Mangalore where she will be hosting the Kadri Utsav this evening.

Kaavya is also looking at entering the Tamil industry next. “Chennai has been my lucky charm and I can’t wait to enter the industry. Everything for me started from here,” she gushes. Sources tell us that she recently met with the legendary Tamil director Balu Mahendra, and if all goes well, he might just cast her in his next film. So is it true? “I have my fingers crossed,” she says hopefully.

Incidentally Kaavya says that she owes all her accomplishments to dancing. “I was a very shy girl who suffered from stage fright. Had it not been for dancing, I do not think I could have ever faced an audience or the camera,” says the danseuse who has learnt Bharatnatyam and Latin American dance forms. “Apart from dancing I love choreographing as well. It widens your horizon and improves one’s ability to visualise things. I had choreographed some of Sindhu’s (the only participant from Bengaluru) performances in Dance India Dance Super Mom,” she says with pride.
