Hyderabad U-14 Zonal Champions
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad under-14 side on Sunday did what none of their seniors couldn’t — win a title in the current season when they won the BCCI South Zone cricket tournament played at Goa.
Hyderabad, who were tied on points with Tamil Nadu, were declared winners by virtue of a higher run quotient.
On Sunday, Hyderabad scored a four-wicket victory against against Andhra. Andhra, taking first strike, were dismissed for 180 in 113.1 overs. Y. Sandeep top-scored with 45 while Hitesh Yadav, who bagged 3 for 34, and Aniketh Reddy, who scalped 4 for 56, were the pick of Hyderabad’s bowlers. In reply, Varun Goud scored 68 and Y. Sandeep made 45 as Hyderabad overhauled the target in 65 overs.
With the win, Hyderabad were tied with Tamil Nadu for the first place, with both sides having earned 11 points from five matches. Hyderabad, whose run quotient was 1.56 compared to Tamil Nadu’s 1.51, were declared the champions.
