VS Achuthanandan complains to PB on land deal
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V.S.Achuthanandan has lodged a complaint with the CPM politburo seeking a probe into the sale of land belonging to party organ Deshabhimani daily, to industrialist V.M. Radhakrishnan.
Achuthanandan alleged that such a sale to a tainted person like Radhakrishnan was not right. The politburo is slated to meet in New Delhi on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A news channel had reported that Deshabhimani general manager E.P.Jayarajan had sold 32 cents of land and a building at Manjalikulam in Thiruvananthapuram to a benami, Danish Chacko, for Rs 3.30 cr. Achuthanandan claimed that the sale was not discussed in the party forum and the said property was sold for a paltry sum.
“Jayarajan alone could not take such a decision. Also, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had justified the land deal openly”, said Achuthanandan in his complaint.
In the press release, he expressed his displeasure on the agreement with NaMo Vichar Manch, a new outfit launched by a section of BJP workers in Kannur against party district president K. Ranjith. He alleged that the decision had been taken without consulting the party.
