Kejriwal does not understand role of CM, says Delhi women Congress President

New Delhi: Commenting on Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) protest against the Delhi Police in the capital, Delhi Women Congress President Onika Mehrotra on Monday criticized Delhi Law Minster Somnath Bharti for using offensive words against Ugandan women, adding that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal could not differentiate between role of a CM and minister.

"Delhi Chief Minster does not know the difference between the role of a CM, and a minister because he has stepped out with the idea of a revolution. It was unlawful of Somnath Bharti to have used offensive words against the Ugandan women, and threaten them," said Mehrotra.

"On the first hand they are doing something wrong, and on top of that they are warning the police. If they think that something is wrong, they should take a due course of action, but what is all this about?" she asked.

"I think it is a mockery of democracy. He should focus on the safety and security of women that he had promised. We want him to fulfill those promises, which he has made to the voters," she added.

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 'dharna' is to take place outside Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's office, demanding action against the Delhi Police today.

The party is demanding action against Delhi Police personnel for alleged dereliction of duty.

Party leader Sanjay Singh made it clear yesterday that AAP will stage the protest if no action is taken against the police officers.

Kejriwal, accompanied by Cabinet colleagues Manish Sisodia, Somnath Bharti and Rakhi Birla, had met Shinde on Friday and demanded suspension of the "guilty" policemen by 10 AM today, failing which they would protest in front of the Home Ministry's office.

AAP is demanding the suspension of the station house officers (SHO) of Sagarpur and Malviya Nagar police stations and two assistant commissioners of police.
