Kochi: Gopi Kottamurikkal, former Ernakulam district secretary of the CPM who was expelled from the party for sexual misdemeanor, is likely to come back into the party fold soon.
A meeting of CPM Ernakulam district secretariat held on Sunday in the presence of CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has given a green signal in this regard taking into account a representation made by the expelled leader to the party, sources said.
Kottamurikkal, expelled from the party on Jun 24 2012, for bringing the party to disrepute by using his office room in the district committee for entertaining a woman friend, had tendered an unconditional apology to the party state committee long ago.
The state secretariat of the party had discussed the matter sometime back and referred the same to the Ernakulam district secretariat of the party.
