Poll donations pinch firms
Hyderabad: Ahead of the elections, there has been an increase in the demand for “contributions”.
These demands are made to industries for the purpose of supporting new political parties that are mushrooming and independent candidates who are increasing in number by the day. Sources say that the industrial sector is beginning to feel the pinch now.
The current political situation in the state seems so volatile that industries feel forced to heed to all such requests, say insiders.
Expectations from the industrial sector have risen tremendously. What’s worse is that there appears to be no respite in the horizon. As it is, most industries have had telling setbacks in the recent past.
“The last three to four months have seen an increase in the number of political parties. Earlier, giving contributions was easy for us. A party was either aligned to the ruling or the Opposition. Things are now different. With so many new parties and candidates, the contributions depend on the clout of the local persons,” a source from industrial sector said.

Industry afraid of extortion
Hyderabad: The fear of parties going into an extortion mode is making it tougher for the industrial sector to hold up.
“The sector is reeling under a major crisis and 90 per cent of the industries in AP?are suffering major losses and are on the brink of a collapse. Small and medium industries sector is crawling to stay in the race. The burden of contributions is pulling us down,” said a representative of an industry association.
